For 24 hours the much too early born baby boy had been put aside in the corner of a run down hut before a German nurse was asked to look after his mother. She could save the woman and her child. But the exhausted poor mother refused to take the child back. There were no emotions and no money to care for the premature born infant.
The German nurse and her husband decided to adopt the boy. He was given the name SOMNANG by the director of the Kampot orphanage.
SOMNANG means LUCK in Cambodian (Khmer) language. To help other children to share this luck “SOMNANG FOUNDATION for the support of Cambodian HIV orphans“ was established by NILS BUSSERT in 2004. |
